Research Area

The focus of Javad’s work as a PhD candidate is personal networks (PNs); a novel idea in the area of personalized communications. A personal network is a network of all devices belonging to a person regardless of their geographical locations. For example, a PN can link personal devices around a mobile user to the user’s devices at home of office securely. We can consider a PN as a sort of distributed ad-hoc network in which ad-hoc sub-networks are linked together through infrastructure networks such as 3G networks. More specifically, Javad is working on:

- Dependability of personal networks

- QoS provisioning in personal networks

- Energy-efficient and reliable communications in wireless ad-hoc networks

- Power-aware routing, power-control, and density control in wireless ad-hoc networks

Javad is also interested in the following research areas

- Performance analysis of communication networks and systems

- Wireless cooperative networks

- Multi-antenna systems and space-time codes
