After military service as a sergeant in a telecommunications battalion, he entered KPN. Initially telephony dominated his career from various viewpoints starting with hardware & software engineering, via operational network planning to architecture & program management. In the late 90′s he started to work on the evolution to voice over packet in the former Unisource Business Networks environment within KPN. In 2001, he entered the Delft University of Technology as a guest lecturer. Today Edgar is active in the area of network transition and technological innovation. Currently, he combines his work for KPN with a Trans-sector Innovation Framework thesis at the Delft University of Technology.

Yue Lu

Yue Lu, born on March 6th, 1982, was a PhD student in the Network Architecture and Services (NAS) Group, Department of Telecommunication, Delft University of Technology, the Netherlands. She graduated as a B.Sc. student in Electronics and Information Engineering Department at HUAZHONG University of Science & Technology in July
2004. After she obtained her M.Sc. degree from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at Delft University of Technology in 2006, she started her PhD research, working on multimedia streaming services and networking performance analysis. Since 2004, she has been researching on P2P systems, real-time Internet streaming services (e.g. TV
streaming, Video on Demand, Audio/Video Conferencing), their Quality of Service and
Quality of Experience, etc.

Yue defended her dissertation on October 21st, 2010. She works for Vodafone in Maastricht.

Extra Experiences:

In her high school period, Yue overpassed the 7th level (totally 10 levels) of playing the piano in China, and got national prize of my music compositions, and became national secondary athlete in the swimming item.

4. Javad Vazifehdan

Javad Vazifehdan

Javad Vazifehdan

Background

Javad Vazifehdan received his B.Sc. from Iran University of Science and Technology, Tehran, Iran in electrical engineering in 2002 with honor. Then he immediately started his M.Sc. in the field of communication systems in University of Tehran, Iran. In the second year of his M.Sc. and while he was doing his master project, he started working as a part time engineer in Frineh company in Tehran. The focus of his work in the company was software development of Fieldbus protocol, a real time communication protocol for process control, suing Rational Rose development suit. During the master project he worked on MIMO cooperative networks and he received his degree in 2005. After graduation he continued his job as a full time employee in Farineh and he and his colleagues succeed to get certificate for the developed protocol. While during his master project he worked on the physical layer of communication protocols, development of MAC and higher layers of a communication protocol during his carrier provided him a valuable insight about the different layers of communication protocols. This motivated him to pursue his PhD in the area of networking. In January 2007, he started his work as a PhD candidate in Wireless and Mobile Communications (WMC) group at Delft University of Technology, the Netherlands.

Honors

· The first rank in GPA for two semesters amongst B.Sc. students in the filed of electronics in the faculty of electrical engineering, Iran University of Science and Technology, 1998-2002.

· The 65th rank amongst almost 5000 competitors in the Iranian graduate entrance exam in electrical engineering, 2002.

· The 2th rank in GPA among graduated M.Sc. students in communication systems field in University of Tehran, 2004

Hobbies

He is really interested in playing football and handball. When he was younger he was also interested in watching football matches, but not anymore. Instead, he became more interested in watching movies and TV series. Reading story books and poems (Hafiz) and traveling are his other hobbies.
