The TRANS group is organized in the form of 3 Boards.

The TRANS Board essentially consists of one head from each of the constituent organizations. In this role, we have:
- Daan Leenstra from TU Delft
- Erik Huizer from TNO
- Han Wijns from KPN
Daan Lenstra
Daan Lenstra (Amsterdam, 1947) received the M.Sc. degree (Cum Laude) in theoretical physics from the University of Groningen and the Ph.D. degree from Delft University of Technology. His thesis work was on polarization effects in gas lasers.
Since 1979 he researched topics in quantum electronics, quantum optics and condensed matter physics, i.e. photon statistics in resonance fluorescence (1982-1983), coherent electron transport (1980-1990), resonant tunneling (1986-1991), semiconductor diode lasers (1983-present), nonlinear dynamics in optical systems (1991-present), analogies between optics and microelectronics (1988-1992), optical phase conjugation (1988-2000), near-field optics and plasmonics (2000-2006), and all-optical ultrafast signal processing (2001-2006).
Daan Lenstra was associate professor at Delft University of Technology (1979-1984) and Eindhoven University of Technology (1984-1991). He was part-time professor at the University of Leiden (1989-1991) and took a chair professor position in theoretical quantum electronics at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam from 1991 until 2006. During 2000-2002 Daan Lenstra has been a part-time guest professor at the COBRA Research Institute, Eindhoven University of Technology, and during 2002-2006 he was appointed part-time (0.5) Professor of Ultrafast Photonics at the same institute. He was Scientific Director of COBRA from 2004 to 2006. From November 1st, 2006 till November 1st, 2010 he was the Dean of the Faculty Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science at Delft University of Technology.
With his group, Daan Lenstra, researched topics in nonlinear dynamics in optical systems, especially semiconductor lasers, quantum electrodynamical theory and modelling of semiconductor structures, generation of short pulses in semiconductor lasers, polarization effects in semiconductor lasers and amplifiers, near-field optics, plasmonics and all-optical ultrafast signal processing. He (co)authored more than 350 publications in international scientific journals and conference proceedings. He (co)edited 9 books.
Erik Huizer

erik huizer
Erik Huizer is scientific director at the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research (TNO). He is also part-time professor Internet Applications at University of Utrecht.
From October 2007 till October 2008 he was Vice President for Internet and New Media at Technicolor, a Thomson company. From May 2000 till December 2004 he was part-time professor for Internet applications at Twente University. From June 2000 till October 2007 he was director for strategy and innovation at NOB. Until June 2000 he was managing director of the SURFnet Expertise Center (SEC). He was strongly involved with the GigaPort project, the Dutch project for the next generation Internet.
From December 1991 till April 1995 he was Area Director for the Applications area of the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) and as such a member of the Internet Engineering Steering Group (IESG). From 1995-2002 he was a member of the Internet Architecture Board. From 1999 till 2002 he was chairman of the Internet Research task Force (IRTF).
Currently he chairman of the Board of TRANS and he is chairing the Dutch national IPv6 Task Force. Erik also serves on the Board of Trustees for the Stichting Internet Domeinregistratie Nederland (the .nl ccTLD registry), the Board of the Public Internet Registry (the .org registry), the Advisory Board of Internet Society in the Netherlands, the Advisory Board of the SURFnet and Kennisnet Innovation Program and he chairs the Supervisory Board of foundation NLnet.
Erik has been teaching at various developing countries workshops on Internet policy and technology. He served on the Board of Directors of Eurofiber. He was member (later chairman) of the board of the Amsterdam Digital City (DDS), he was chairman of the board of The European Internet Seminars Foundation. Furthermore he was a member of the Dutch Expert Group on Broadband, a member of the commissie Andriessen (FttH for the city of Amsterdam) and a pioneer member of the Internet Society. Co-founder of Electronic Commerce Platform NL and the Dutch chapter of the Internet Society.
Han Wijns

Han Wijns
Han has had a long career at KPN. This was launched with several functions in the HR field, with different functions. He went from a management trainer to the director of HR group at KPN.
After several assignements in Indonesia as PT Telecom, he joined the Network company. Here too, he began with diverse roles, but essentially focussing on management functions in the current Wholesale and Operations group.
For the past two years, he has been active in the management of IT, with special attention to Global Sourcing.
He is the Chairman of the Board of Cor Witfonds as well as one of the founders of TRANS. His activities are a result of his deep social commitment and special interest in innovating around social issues.
